UCSC's Murphy posts 50th double-double in rout
UC Santa Cruz senior forward Kaylee Murphy posted her 15th doubledouble of the season and 50th of her career in a rout Sunday at Kaiser Permanente Arena.
Murphy had team-high totals of 19 points and 15 rebounds, as the UCSC women's basketball team produced its highest offensive output of the season in a 97-69 win over visiting Lincoln on senior day.
UCSC led 24-12 after the first quarter and 47-22 at the half. Lincoln, led by Lindsey Claude's 34-point outing, rallied in the third quarter, but the Banana Slugs blew the game open with their 33-point fourth quarter.
Senior guard/forward Ashley Kowack, UCSC's all-time leading scorer, scored 17 points. Senior guard Tess Oakley-Stilson scored 14 points, and senior forward Amanda Inserra had 12 points and eight rebounds. Senior guard Aubrey Wagner had eight points, nine assists, and five rebounds.
The Banana Slugs (17-5) play at NCAA Division II Dominican (15-10) in San Rafael on Sunday at 2 p.m., before heading off to Fredericksburg, Virginia, to compete in the Coast-ToCoast Conference Tournament.

The Banana Slugs
opened with a 3-0 sweep in doubles, topped with Andrew Tjoa and Lucas Chen winning 8-7 at No. 1.
UCSC's Sam Hall beat David Mulas Zelenskaya 3-6, 6-3, 1-0 at No. 3 singles, and Praneet Varade clinched the match win at No. 6 singles by defeating Erkin Tootoonchi 6-2, 6-0.
The dual match came down to Praneet Varade at No. 6 singles, but he defeated the Oaks' Erkin Tootoonchi 6-2, 6-0 to give UC Santa Cruz the win.
The Banana Slugs (2-1) kick off a three-match roadtrip at No. 16 Caltech in Pasadena
on Friday at 3 p.m.

SUPER BOWL RUN >> Santa Cruz's Pierre Meunier (21:20) edged Stefano Profumo (21:22) for the win in Santa Cruz Track Club's 6k Super Bowl Run on Sunday.
Santa Cruz's Zachery Castiglione (21:30) took third.
Santa Cruz's Rebecca Paten (23:11) beat out Albany's Alexis Ballman (25:25) for the women's title, and Santa Cruz's Sarah Kletzer (25:27) was third.
The race was shortened from its usual 10k distance due to the washout on West Cliff Drive. A 3k and kids' 1k were also held.

DAVID HEMERY VALENTINE INVITATIONAL >> UCSC graduate students Sean Riedel and Oliver Chang competed in the 5,000-meter run at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational at Boston University on Sunday. Riedel took 62nd in 14:55.60, and Chang was 161st in 14:59.14.
