Clem Martinez, 92, July 7 Judith Settle, July 22

On July 7, 2016, Clem Martinez passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family. He was 92 years old. Clem was born in Albuquerqu­e, New Mexico to Piadad Leyba and Clemente Martinez, Sr. Both preceded him in death.

He is also preceded in death by his only sibling, Carmen Martinez Fajardo.

Growing up he moved to various places such as Las Vegas, New Mexico, Los Angeles, California and Seattle, Washington. Upon moving back to Albuquerqu­e he met and married the love of his life, Gloria Cordova Martinez. She preceded him in death in 2008.

Clem began his career with the Frito Company in 1951 and worked with them for 35 years until his retirement in 1986. He was known as the original "Frito Bandito" in New Mexico where he was a route salesman and brought the Frito Lay products into local supermarke­ts in the Santa Fe area.

Clem and Gloria raised three children together. Cathey Merlino and partner Jim Gutierrez, David Martinez and Dan Martinez. He also has one very special grandson David Stone and his wife Rebeca, all of whom cared for him during his final months.

Clem was a loving husband, father, grandfathe­r and uncle. He will be deeply missed. Many thanks for to Amber Hospice Care. The family has chosen to have a private Celebratio­n of Life at a later date.
