JUAN “JOHNNY” GURULE JUNE 2, 1937 – JULY 23, 2016

Juan “Johnny” Gurule– 79 of Santa Fe, NM was born on June 2, 1937 in Pena Blanca, NM to Juan Gurule and Carmelita Lucero. He went to be with his Lord on July 23, 2016. He was one of 9 children and was the last surviving. He moved to Santa Fe in 1959, met and married Christine Anaya. They were married on July 25, 1959 at St. John’s Catholic Church. They were blessed with three children, Carmen, John and Frank. Johnny had a lifelong love for the outdoors. In his younger years, he enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping with his family and friends. Up until his passing, he enjoyed planting and caring for his gardens, trees and flowers. He had a strong work ethic and retired from the City of Santa Fe and often worked several jobs to keep busy. He helped raise his 15 grandchild­ren and 8 great grandchild­ren whom he loved dearly. Johnny was preceded in death by his father, Juan Gurule; mother, Carmelita Lucero; stepfather Esequiel Herrera; 3 brothers and 6 sisters; son, John C. Gurule. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Christine; daughter, Carmen; son, Frank (Missy); granddaugh­ter, Christina GuruleMont­oya (Shaun), whom he raised as a daughter, 15 grandchild­ren and 8 great grandchild­ren and numerous nieces and nephews, brothers and sisters in law, family and friends whom he enjoyed their company and love throughout his life. Visitation will be on Friday, July 29, 2016 from 1:00-3:00 p.m. at Berardinel­li Family Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be held at 9:00 a.m. at San Isidro Parish Center at 3552 Agua Fria Street, Santa Fe, NM. Reception to immediatel­y follow at Elks Lodge, 1615 Old Pecos Trail, Santa Fe, NM. Honorary pallbearer­s will be his grandchild­ren and great grandchild­ren.
