Rosina Giron Gallegos, age 86, of Santa Fe, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family after a brief illness on January 6, 2017. Rosina was born and raised in Pojoaque, NM on February 28, 1930.

Rosina was a homemaker for many years as she and her husband, Gilbert raised their four children.

Rosina worked for the Santa Fe Public Schools Cafeterias, where she prepared and served meals to thousands of students for over 13 years, until her retirement in 1995. Rosina was also a devote Catholic to St. Johns Church for over 50 years. She will be dearly missed. Rosina was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 47 years, Gilbert Gallegos; parents, Frank Giron and Beatrice Quintana; her brothers, Pedro Giron and wife Bennie, Benigno Giron, Arthur Giron; her sisters, Mary E. Maestas and husband Henry, Elvira Lujan and husband Feliciano; brothers-in-law, Nestor Lujan, Herman Gallegos and wife Manuelita, Luis Gallegos and wife Emma; son-in-law, Salomon Martinez.

Rosina is survived by her children Brenda Martinez, Gilbert Gallegos Jr. and wife Gretchen, Denise Gallegos, Paul Gallegos and girlfriend Melissa Montoya; grandchild­ren, Nathan, Stephen, Jade, Melanie and Patrick Gallegos. Also surviving Rosina are brother, Juan Jiron and wife Arabella; sisters, Celia Lujan, Lorraine Abraham and husband Joshua; sisters-in-law, Mary Louise Giron and Evelyn Giron.

Pallbearer­s will be Nathan, Stephen, Melanie and Patrick Gallegos as well as Marshall Lujan and Jason Giron. Honorary Pallbearer­s will be Jade Gallegos and David Vigil. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at 5pm at Berardinel­li followed by the reciting of the rosary at 6pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated St. John’s Catholic Church on Thursday, January 12, 2017 at 9am. Interment will be at 12:45pm at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
