1 7 p.m. on FOX MasterChef Any fan of this show knows that mystery-box challenges are among its staples, and the latest is presented in the new episode “Junior Edition: Just Like Gordon.” Of course, that title references chef Gordon Ramsay, whose hand-roasted sea bass dish is attempted by the young contestant­s. Along with Chistina Tosi and chef and guest judge Aaron Sanchez, Ramsay himself has to determine who succeeds in the effort — and who must leave the contest.

2 8 p.m. on CW Riverdale The Blossoms continue to harbor secrets as Jason’s funeral nears in the new “Chapter Five: Heart of Darkness,” while Betty (Lili Reinhart) is stunned by what she finds in probing Jason’s death. Veronica and Cheryl (Camila Mendes, Madelaine Petsch) become allies. Archie (KJ Apa) is distracted from football by a music opportunit­y. Tree Hill) as iconic record company founder Sam Phillips, who serves as a guiding force as such young titans as Elvis Presley (Drake Milligan), Johnny Cash (Kevin Fonteyne) and Jerry Lee Lewis (Christian Lees) begin their rise to stardom.

4 9 p.m. on NBC The Blacklist: Redemption Several characters from the parent Blacklist try to make good for their misdeeds, operating where the U.S. government can’t, as this spinoff premieres with “Leland Bray.” Ryan Eggold carries over as Tom Keen, who joins the force that’s led by Susan “Scottie” Hargrave (Famke Janssen, pictured) — his longestran­ged mother — to find a missing CIA agent. Edi Gathegi and Tawny Cypress continue in their Blacklist parts as well.

5 9 p.m. on CBS Training Day An informant known well by Frank (Bill Paxton) is murdered by members of the Yakuza, setting Frank on a course of revenge, in the new episode “Code of Honor.” He and Kyle (Justin Cornwell) run up against an FBI agent who’s concerned that their actions will impact his own anti-Yakuza mission.
