CRC MEETS WEDNESDAY
The district’s Citizens Review Committee, a 10-member body that advises the school board on capital projects, meets from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, April 12, at the district’s Educational Services Center, 610 Alta Vista St. Among the agenda items is an update on construction projects in the district, including Milagro Middle School, and a re-prioritization of general obligation bond funds for capital projects.
‘THE LARAMIE PROJECT: TEN YEARS LATER’
Desert Academy’s theater department presents a production of The Laramie Project: Ten Years Later, at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 12, and 8:30 p.m. Thursday, April 13, at Warehouse 21, 1614 Paseo de Peralta. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children.
Playwright Moisés Kaufman and members of the Tectonic Theater Project used interviews they conducted with residents of Laramie, Wyo. to help write the original The Laramie Project, which dealt with the community’s response to the brutal killing of gay college student Matthew Shepard. Ten years later, Kaufman and some of those theater artists returned to the community for a follow-up piece.
NMSU WANTS TO HEAR FROM TEACHERS
The College of Education at New Mexico State University in Las Cruces wants teachers to weigh in with their opinions for the New Mexico Educator Survey. The survey is intended to give educators the chance to give feedback on a number of issues impacting teachers. The deadline for taking the survey is Saturday, April 15. PUBLIC SCHOOLS AND SOME OTHER SITES CLOSED FRIDAY
Santa Fe Public Schools and some other educational facilities will close Friday, April 14, for a day of spring break. Check individual school websites to determine whether they are closing or not.
