St. John’s College’s free, family-friendly concert series continues

- Douglas Maahs is chairman of the advisory board of St. John’s College’s Music on the Hill.

St. John’s College Music on the Hill summer concert series begins June 14. Two articles (“Music on the Hill seeking sponsors,” March 30; “Music on the Hill faces uncertain future,” Jan. 14) published earlier this year in The Santa Fe New Mexican informed the public that without new sponsors and donations, the continuation and sustainability of the series was in doubt.

We are pleased to announce that the response from private donors and new sponsors has met the needs of 2017, provided optimism that the program might be sustainable for future years and overwhelmingly affirmed that Music on the Hill is an event Santa Feans wish to preserve.

Our work is not done. Since its inception, Music on the Hill has donated event proceeds back to the college for student financial aid. With the ongoing support of sponsors and private donations, we will continue this important work with the goal of increasing the amount Music on the Hill is able to give back in the years to come.

This year, we have begun a new program called Friends of Music on the Hill. It is an online donation portal where tax-deductible donations of any amount can be made. Go to www.sjc.edu/santa-fe/events/ music-on-the-hill and you, too, can support our mission of community outreach and student financial aid.

Thank you, Santa Fe, for your generous support of this unique event. The full concert series consists of six events held on the second, third and fourth Wednesdays of June and July.
