OF “EARTH LIVE” ON NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC

- BY JAY BOBBIN

brand-new cameras that can take nighttime and basically make it look like daytime, so you see the stars and the moon and the sky, but it looks like day, it’s just amazing. Though your hosting of “Hollywood Game Night” isn’t broadcast live, it’s done liveto-tape ... and you’ve also hosted award shows, so are you used to the pressures of going live? It’s basically about staying present and in the moment. And when things go “wrong,” you don’t lose your cool and you just roll with it. What do you anticipate about hosting “Earth Live,” along with Phil Keoghan of “The Amazing Race,” and showcasing animal encounters around the globe as they happen? You reprised your recurring guest role on “Criminal Minds” last season, which helped keep you present in scripted primetime series after “Angel From Hell.” Do you miss making that comedy? That’s interesting. You don’t know because it’s going to be two hours live, but indeed, I am reading up. A lot of it is the unknown ... for us, anyway. The preparation for this thing has been going on for over a year, and I know the idea was sold to them about two years ago. I went on CBS All Access to watch “The Good Fight,” and they have our episodes! I watched one and I thought, “That was such a sweet little show.” We did 13, and I’m very happy that we got to do that much. The producers have already staked out the places, they know where the cameras are going to be, and they chose that night because it’s going to be a full moon. We’re using these (Co-star) Maggie Lawson and I got to be really good friends – we text each other – and I’m still friends with everybody from that show. Kyle Bornheimer and Kevin Pollak and I also got very close.
