Santa Fe is a riot of gallery openings, live music shows, receptions and other special events held in conjunction with Indian Market. Below is a summary of activities and attractions independent from the market itself and those organized and sponsored by SWAIA. Note: Some events repeat, as indicated in the descriptions.

Pueblo Independence Day 7 a.m.-3 p.m. The 14th annual Pueblo Independence Day commemorates the successful Pueblo Revolt against the Spanish on Aug. 10, 1680. A 13-mile pilgrimage run from Jemez Pueblo to Jemez Historic Site begins at 7 a.m. (general public welcome; water stations and van service provided). Guest speakers welcome runners at 10 a.m. From 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., festivities include Jemez traditional dances, Native American flute music, authentic Native food and Native arts and crafts. Free. Antique American Indian Art Show Opening Gala 6-9 p.m. $50. All gala ticket proceeds benefit KNME (New Mexico PBS). The event includes a 6 p.m. signing with author Charles S. King of his new book, Spoken
Through Clay (Museum of New Mexico Press), which showcases the Eric S. Dobkin pottery collection. More than 300 gorgeous photos of pottery vessels and their creators — mainly contemporary Pueblo artists — grace the book. Dobkin will sign at same time on Wednesday.
