7 p.m. on TNT Animal Kingdom
Executive producer John Wells (ER) wrote and directed the Season 2 finale, “Betrayal,” in which Smurf (Ellen Barkin, above), finally realizes she may wind up serving far more time in jail than she originally anticipated. As a consequence, she lashes out by pitting her sons against one another, and she’s not particularly concerned with how that all plays out. At least fans can relax in the knowledge that the show will be back for a third season.
8 p.m. on USA Shooter
Bob Lee and Isaac (Ryan Phillippe, Omar Epps) pull together to escape a Mexican prison before their nemesis Solotov (Josh Stewart) is able to find them in the new episode “Someplace Like Bolivia.” Back in the States, Nadine’s (Cynthia Addai-Robinson) investigation into Atlas uncovers evidence suggesting that the cover-up points back to someone in Bob Lee’s unit. Julie (Shantel VanSanten), meanwhile, pays the price for her actions back home.
9 p.m. on PBS Frontline
“League of Denial: The NFL’s Concussion Crisis” investigates allegations that the National Football League denied and refuted scientific evidence that violent collisions are linked to early onset dementia, long-term brain damage, death and other consequences for players. Journalists Mark Fainaru-Wada and Steve Fainaru discuss the findings they uncovered while co-writing their book League of Denial: The NFL, Concussions and the Battle for Truth.

Host Jane Lynch welcomes six celebrities — comic Iliza Shlesinger, actress Cheryl Hines (Curb Your Enthusiasm), figure skaters Tara Lipinski and Johnny Weir, actress Pamela Adlon (Better
Things) and actor Tyler Hoechlin (Supergirl) — to another hour of party games in the new episode “Super Smashed Game Night.” The stars split into two teams and try to help their designated contestant score enough points to win the $25,000 grand prize 9 p.m. on ABC

Nico (Devon Sawa) discovers a lot about Danny’s (guest star Noel Johansen) past and he and Laura (Paula Patton) pursue “The Fourth Man” in a critically important photograph in a new episode by that title. Laura also has to make a decision about Tom’s (JR Bourne) duplicity that will affect whether he can have any relationship with her and Serena (Aria Birch) going forward. Hilary Jardine
