6 p.m. on A&E Biggie: The Life of Notorious B.I.G.
Filmmaker Mark Ford incorporates archival footage, audio recordings and new interviews in this new three-hour documentary to chronicle the life story of the influential rapper, who was born Christopher Wallace and rose to fame before his shocking 1997 murder in Los Angeles. Authorized by the performer’s estate, the film also examines widow Faith Evans’ struggle to reconcile some of her more troubling memories.
7 p.m. on AMC Preacher
In the penultimate episode of Season 2, entitled “On Your Knees,” Jesse, Tulip and Cassidy (Dominic Cooper, Ruth Negga, Joseph Gilgun) hit a major bump in the road that prompts them to make plans to get out of New Orleans as soon as possible. Unfortunately, the arrival of an old enemy (could it be the Saint of Killers?) resurfaces, forcing them to change their plans. Pip Torrens guest stars.
7 p.m. on DISCOVERY Diesel Brothers
Diesel Dave, Heavy D, Red Beard, the Muscle and the rest of the wild and crazy DieselSellerz team return for a new season of snapping up diesel trucks about to be consigned to the scrap heap and giving them a handsome reprieve. During these upcoming new episodes, the guys are invited to race in Las Vegas, Nev.’s famous Mint 400, if — and this is definitely a big “if” — they can build a race truck in just a week. Also, Heavy D realizes a childhood dream of driving a monster truck.
7 p.m. on HISTORY Road to 9/11
As the 16th anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks approaches, Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Steve Coll attempts the daunting task of presenting a cohesive overview of a massive story that previously has been told in fragments. Incorporating more than 50 interviews, this three-part, six-hour documentary series, which airs nightly through Wednesday, focuses on the period between the 1993 World Trade Center bombing and 9/11 event itself.
7:30 p.m. on CBS CBS Fall Preview
Little is changing in the CBS primetime lineup for the coming season, but what’s new for starters is showcased in this half-hour. Those series include: Young Sheldon, about the early years of the Big Bang Theory character; an updated S.W.A.T. with Criminal Minds alum Shemar Moore, above; and SEAL Team, keeping David Boreanaz (Bones, Angel) on weekly television.
