ABIQUIÚ LAKE: Fishing was good using tubes, grubs, 6-inch worms, spoons, square bill crank baits and top water lures for smallmouth bass. Fishing was good using 4-inch spoons and curly tail grubs tipped with night crawlers for walleye. Anglers fishing for smallmouth bass and walleye also picked up a few crappie. Fishing was good using worms, liver, homemade dough bait for catfish. ALBUQUERQU­E AREA DRAINS: Fishing on the Albuquerqu­e Drain was fair using night crawlers for catfish and a few small bass. CHAMA RIVER: Fishing below El Vado was good using bead-head wooly buggers, copper John Barrs, custom tied flies, spinners, night crawlers, Fire Balls and PowerBait for brown and rainbow trout. We had no reports from below Abiquiú. COCHITI LAKE: Fishing was fair using crank baits, worms, jigs and jerk baits for smallmouth bass and largemouth bass. A few white bass were caught by anglers trolling crank baits. Fishing was slow to fair using shrimp, chicken liver and homemade dough bait for catfish. We had no other reports. EL VADO LAKE: Fishing was fair using worms, jigs and tubes for smallmouth bass. The kokanee snagging season opens Sunday. FENTON LAKE: Fishing was fair to good using worms, wax worms, PowerBait, spinners and small spoons for brown and rainbow trout. HERON LAKE: Fishing was fair using salmon eggs, worms and PowerBait for rainbow trout. We had no other reports. Fishing pressure was light. The lake and Willow Creek are closed to kokanee snagging Sunday to Nov. 9 and no kokanee may be in possession while fishing during this period. JEMEZ WATERS: Stream flow on the Jemez River near Jemez Springs on Monday morning was 12.4 cfs. Trout fishing on the Jemez was fair for anglers using worms and salmon eggs. Fishing on the Cebolla was good using worms, small spinners and Fire Balls. Fishing on the San Antonio was good using ant patterns, worms and salmon eggs. NAVAJO LAKE: Fishing was good using top water lures, crank baits, jerk baits, tubes, creature bait and senkos for smallmouth bass and largemouth bass. Fishing was good using swim baits, top water lures, jerk baits and crank baits for northern pike. Fishing was good using worms and grubs for perch. Fishing for kokanee salmon was slow. We had no other reports. The surface water temp was in the high 60s. Kokanee snagging season opens Sunday (excluding designated nowake areas). SAN JUAN RIVER: Fly fishing action through the Quality waters was good for anglers using olive wooly buggers, small emergers, red annelids, San Juan worms, dead chickens and small bead-head pheasant tail nymphs. Trout fishing through the bait waters was good using night crawlers, PowerBait, Fire Balls, San Juan worms and jerk baits. SEVEN SPRINGS BROOD POND: Fishing was very good using PowerBait, salmon eggs, Fire Balls, worms and Pistol Petes for trout. TINGLEY BEACH: Fishing at the Youth and Central ponds was slow to fair using hot dogs, stink bait, beef liver and shrimp for channel catfish. Fishing at the Bob Gerding Catch and Release Ponds was slow with just a few trout and largemouth bass caught by anglers using small emergers and single hook crank baits.
