Battling dental disease in pets
Kris Bannon of Veterinary Dentistry & Oral Surgery of New Mexico will speak Friday at Teca Tu’s monthly Pawsworthy Pub Hour.
Bannon will answer questions about pet dental issues from 5 to 7 p.m. at 165 Paseo de Peralta in the DeVergas Center.
At the Santa Fe animal shelter, dental cleaning has become a common standard of care. So when the shelter’s 5-year-old dental unit kept breaking and eventually was not repairable, the clinic needed to replace it.
“We used it almost about every day,” said Jennifer Steketee, the shelter’s executive director and former medical director.
The animal shelter has created a fundraising drive to cover the $6,500 cost of a new dental machine.
