Oct. 15, 1917: Representa­tives of the local religious, fraternal and commercial organizati­ons will meet at the county court house this evening to lay plans for the big Liberty Loan drive that will be made in Santa Fe next week to subscribe this city’s quota of the loan.

Oct. 15, 1967: The culprit causing the problems with Santa Fe’s electrical power revealed itself with a bang late Friday night.

The trouble was located generally, but not actually pinpointed after it kicked off electrical power in the middle of the final World Series game Thursday, according to Public Service Co. of New Mexico.

In revealing itself Friday night, it caused a second power outage which left Santa Fe’s north and east sections in pitch darkness for 57 minutes.

… The culprit, [John] Bundren explained Saturday morning, was a faulty switch in the company’s new capacitor bank at the Zia switching station south of the rodeo grounds.

Oct. 15, 1992: Tesuque Pueblo tribal council members have been accused of greed and “ill-informed agitation” after the tribe canceled its contract with the Florida-based company that ran its $8 million annual bingo operations.

Tribal attorney Catherine Stetson said Wednesday the contract terminatio­n was “based on sound business principles and audit reports.” However she declined to say specifical­ly why the tribe took over the bingo operation.
