You thought The Last Jedi was the biggest trailer to drop last week? You really thought that, huh?

El Mitotero is here to tell you: No, it definitely was, for sure. But there were other trailers, too! Some with New Mexico ties. [Billy Eichner voice] New Mexico ties! Are you listening?!

The beloved Santa Fe-area Western Longmire, set for one final ride in its sixth and conclusive season, dropped its long-awaited trailer last week. You can view it on the El Mitote blog. But El Mitotero will tease one big spoiler-ific bombshell: Walt … is there. The rest? Well, you’ll have to tune in.

Another trailer came down the pike: That of Waco, the miniseries that filmed in Santa Fe County over the summer. Based on the real events surrounding the bloody 1993 Texas siege, it has a hell of a cast. Taylor Kitsch stars as cult leader David Koresh; Michael Shannon stars as Gary Noesner, the FBI negotiator. There’s also John Legiuzamo and Shea Whigham. The trailer is … very good.

Unclear is whether this based-on-true-events premiere miniseries will rise to the level of phenomenon the way The People v. O.J. Simpson did last year, but El Mitotero will be tuning in to find out.

El Mitotero gives a shoutout to fashion designer Loren Aragon, originally from Acoma Pueblo, who was named designer of the year at Phoenix Fashion Week. “It was a great opportunity for Native American fashion to be represented on this stage and to receive top honors,” Aragon wrote in an email.
