From The Santa Fe New Mexican: Nov. 3, 1917: Las Vegas, N.M. — Las Vegas police officers yesterday morning arrested three men and two women who are believed to be able to clear up the mystery of the identity of the man who shot and seriously wounded Policeman Tony Guevara at Albuquerque Wednesday night. Two of the men are believed to have been the pair of suspected burglars with whom Guevara and Policeman Dionicio Chavez of Albuquerque had the gun battle on North Second street in that city. It was not known until into Thursday in Albuquerque that another man and two women were traveling with the two gunmen who escaped after the shooting to an automobile.

Nov. 3, 1967: There were only a few people standing around St. Vincent Hospital Emergency Room when they started bringing in the dead and injured.

An attendant, looking harried, closed the sliding doors that join two corridors near the rooms — one corridor connecting with the rest of the hospital, the other leading past the emergency surgery room up the entrance.

“There are going to be hundreds of people up and down here in a while,” the attendant said to a security guard, indicating the corridors with a sweep of his eyes. “Keep ’em away.” But for an hour, few came. Nov. 3, 1992: Just think of the presidents Caroline Pecos has missed voting for in the last 20 years: Nixon, Carter, Reagan and Bush. Bush and Perot and Clinton won’t be so lucky this time. Pecos, who’s 101 years old, will be at the Pasatiempo Senior Citizens Center on Alta Vista Street today to punch her ballot for the first time in about 20 years, her daughter, Darlene Herrera, said Monday.

When she re-registered last month, Pecos, a Cochiti Indian, joked that she didn’t think she was allowed to vote, said Kathy Tolman, president of the League of Women voters.
