S.F. man charged in girlfriend’s assault

-

A Santa Fe man accused his girlfriend of infidelity and then beat her while she was holding her 3-year-old daughter, according to a criminal complaint filed Wednesday in Santa Fe County Magistrate Court.

A police detective wrote that Enrique Treto-Rodriguez, 26, confronted his girlfriend early Tuesday and “punched her several times all over her head” at least 13 times.

The complaint says that after the two-minute assault at the woman’s home, Treto-Rodriguez fled out a bedroom window and then returned, threatening to “shoot everyone including her daughter.”

Santa Fe police Detective Ryan Romero wrote that when he arrived at the scene, he saw swelling and bruising on the woman’s upper cheek and three lumps on the top of her head the size of a quarter.

Treto-Rodriguez later led police on a foot pursuit, the complaint says, before officers found him hiding on the roof of his south-westside residence at about 7:30 a.m.

Police booked Treto-Rodriguez into jail on a third-degree felony charge of child abuse, as well as misdemeanor charges of resisting or evading police, battery against a household member, larceny and assault against a household member.

Santa Fe County Magistrate George Anaya Jr. set a $5,000 secured bond and said Treto-Rodriguez could only be released under electronic monitoring and with a condition that he avoid the woman and her child.
