Isabel was employed by St. Vincent Hospital for over 30 years, working the 3-11 shift as a PBX switchboard operator. She loved working at the hospital and never missed a day of work or the opportunity to advocate on patients’ behalf in order to get a quick response from doctors and priests.
Her children fondly remember her active participation in the social club Los Unidos. A regular spectator at all of her children’s and grandchildren’s basketball, softball, baseball, soccer and football games, Isabel was well known for enthusiastically instigating the cheer, "Who’s gonna win, gonna win, gonna win? We’re gonna win, gonna win, gonna win"! She also loved attending girl’s basketball games coached by her sister, Cyndy Roybal. Isabel was a phenomenal cook and no holiday meal was complete without her red chile. Who needs gravy when mashed potatoes could be smothered in Isabel’s red chile? She was equally in demand for her green chile chicharron bean burritos and her banana nut bread. Her recipes as well as her love and support for her family and friends will always be remembered and cherished. A CELEBRATION of Isabel’s life will be held on Friday, November 24th, at Cristo Rey Church. The rosary will be recited at 10am. Funeral mass at 11am. Reception to follow at Cristo Rey Gym.
