Parents of eight requesting help with Christmas presents

-

A mother of eight children says her husband is attending classes to obtain a GED diploma, then hopes to become certified as a technician in heating, ventilation and air conditioning.

The woman works, but she says funds are low.

She is proud of how well her children are doing in school, noting that her oldest, a seventhgrader, made the honor roll.

The two are looking for some assistance in providing the best holiday possible for their children.

They are among hundreds of people asking for help this season through the Empty Stocking Fund.

The Empty Stocking Fund is a project of The Santa Fe New Mexican. The Santa Fe Community Foundation, Los Alamos National Bank, The Salvation Army, Presbyterian Medical Services and The Life Link donate services to jointly administer the Empty Stocking Fund.

The newspaper will run stories featuring requests for assistance from local residents. The information from the initial application will be verified if the applicant is selected for assistance.
