The past 100 years
From The Santa Fe New Mexican: Feb. 7, 1918: Messrs. Munoz, Franklin, Webb and Brain, representing the capital now controlling the railroad, were guests last night at the library building at a Spanish dinner given by Colonel Collier to the visitors and the business men of Santa Fe, about 100 being present. Colonel Collier acted as master of ceremonies and toastmaster in his usual breezy manner and the dinner was deserved by Senorita Maria Ignacia Gutierrez, sister of Amado Gutierrez.
Feb. 7, 1968: A Santa Fe candidate has already withdrawn from Santa Fe’s municipal election contest. He is 21-year-old disc jockey William Dimas, who filed for the Ward 3 council seat held by incumbent Robert Beers.
Dimas told City Clerk George Roybal yesterday he was withdrawing from the race because of his job at radio station KVSF.
Feb. 7, 1993: In a warren of rather sterile offices near the intersection of Old Pecos Trail and St. Michael’s Drive, economists, biologists, physicists, computer scientists and others are developing what might simplistically be described as a theory to explain everything.
The theory, called complexity, seeks to explain the dynamics of various systems, including the economy, the human immune system, the interaction of water molecules, human society, even the universe itself.
