Senior ace Alexis Garcia fired a no-hitter, allowing just one runner on base.

In the junior varsity game, SFIS beat the junior Lady Warriors 17-0 in a three-inning game.

Capital sweeps Hornets

The Capital softball team has put in nine innings of work to produce a 3-0 record.

The Lady Jaguars hammered Albuquerque Highland 17-2 and 18-0 to sweep a nondistrict doubleheader Saturday in Albuquerque. It was the third straight game ended by the 15-run mercy rule after a 16-0 win over Santa Fe High on March 1.

The duo of Arianna Almeida and Alex Fernandez each allowed one hit to the Lady Hornets as they both went the distance.

JoJo Bowannie hammered the ball to the tune of a pair 3-for-4, five-RBI performances. She had an inside-the-park home run in the second game of the twinbill.

Emma George was 3-for-4 in the opener, with two doubles and a pair of RBIs. Almeida went 2-for-3 with two RBIs in the second game.

Capital will get its first true test of the season on Tuesday when it travels to Los Lunas.
