DJ Khaled and Hailey Baldwin host this annual ceremony honoring fan favorites from the past year in music from The Forum in Inglewood, Calif. Performers during the special, which also is simulcast on TBS and TruTV, include Camila Cabello, Ed Sheeran, Cardi B, Charlie Puth, Maroon 5 and Backstreet Boys. 7 p.m. on FOX O.J. Simpson: The Lost Confession?

Soledad O’Brien hosts this new two-hour special built around a 2006 interview between O.J. Simpson and Judith Regan, wherein Simpson gives a startling, graphic yet “hypothetical” account of what might have happened on June 12, 1994, the night his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend Ron Goldman were brutally murdered. Those tapes have been lost for more than a decade, but they’re played once more during this program, which airs with limited commercial interruptions.

7 p.m. on ABC American Idol

What’s not-so-new is new again as this search for the next singing star switches networks after a two-year absence from television. Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie form the new judging panel as Ryan Seacrest returns to host, again starting the process with auditions from cities around the country … and, as usual, a focus on the personal stories of those hoping to move past the initial phase and actually take the performance stage. Another episode airs Monday.

9 p.m. on NBC Timeless

There’s a very particular story to this fantasy-drama’s return for a second season, which begins with “The War to End All Wars,” since it was canceled and then — thanks in large part to an outcry from fans — “uncanceled.” Abigail Spencer, Matt Lanter and Malcolm Barrett return as the trio who literally race across time … in the case of this episode, to World War I, where Marie Curie (guest star Kim Bubbs) is enlisted to help save a wounded American soldier who is Lucy’s (Spencer) great-grandfather.

9:01 p.m. on ABC Deception

Magic is very much on the menu in this new drama series, as Jack CutmoreScott (Cooper Barrett’s Guide to Surviving Life) plays a superstar illusionist who has a major fall from grace. He then uses his skills to help FBI agents (Amaury Nolasco, Laila Robins) capture particularly evasive criminals. Vinnie Jones and Lenora Crichlow also star.
