6 p.m. on NGEO Movie: Jane Filmmaker Brett Morgan drew from more than 100 hours of previously unseen archival footage for this extraordinary 2017 documentary profile of Jane Goodall, which captures this trailblazing conservationist in 1962, as she makes her first foray into the world of chimpanzees. Her work would revolutionize our understanding of the natural world. Morgan says he wanted the film to play “like a cinematic opera,” an impression that’s enhanced by Philip Glass’s rich orchestral score. 7 p.m. on CW DC’s Legends of Tomorrow The roots of rock and roll inform the new episode “Amazing Grace,” as the Legends travel to mid-1950s Memphis to try to prevent a tragedy that would change the course of music history. Nate (Nick Zano) Is stunned to encounter another type of legend, one of the icons of the genre. Zari (Tala Ashe) counsels the newest addition to the team. 7 p.m. on LIFE Mary Kills People After Des (Richard Short) is released from prison, Mary (Caroline Dhavernas, pictured) warily lets him back into her “death practice” after working on her own for several months, as Season 2 opens with “The Means.” She begins to regret that decision almost immediately, however, when a mysterious woman named Olivia Bloom (Rachelle Lefevre) approaches Des looking for a hit man. Elsewhere, Jess’s (Abigail Winter) budding relationship with a new girl makes Naomi (Katie Douglas) jealous. 8 p.m. on CW iZombie Liv (Rose McIver) has love on the brain — in an extremely literal way — in the new episode “Brainless in Seattle, Part 1,” as her probe of a very romantic person’s murder makes her prone to meddle in others’ relationships, to Clive’s (Malcolm Goodwin) particular discomfort. Liv and Major (Robert Buckley) continue to try to resolve their shared troubles. 9 p.m. on ABC The Good Doctor A patient puts Shaun (Freddie Highmore) on the spot in the new episode “Pain,” by asking the doctor what he would do if faced with the same potentially perilous surgery. It’s then a struggle for Shaun to put himself in the other person’s shoes and give an honest answer. Antonia Thomas, Nicholas Gonzalez, Chuku Modu, Beau Garrett, Hill Harper, Richard Schiff and Tamlyn Tomita also star.
