On Your Feet to unveil new store in DeVargas Center

-

On Your Feet is about to become the latest former Sanbusco Market Center tenant to set up shop in the DeVargas Center mall.

Nina Houle, who was among business owners who moved out of Sanbusco after the state-chartered New Mexico School for the Arts bought that property adjoining the Santa Fe Railyard, said she will keep her approximately 4,000-square-foot main store in the Guadalupe Station complex across Montezuma Street from the Jean Cocteau Cinema. But look for her second store to open this month at the DeVargas Center in a stylishly remodeled 1,800-square-foot space formerly occupied by Radio Shack.

Regular customers who visit the new store, which Houle says will allow On Your Feet to expand its selection of women’s shoes and stock “an enormous amount of women’s socks,” will recognize other locally owned businesses that migrated from Sanbusco, such as Rock Paper Scissor Salonspa, op. cit. books, Santa Fe Pens, Kioti women’s clothing, Bodhi Bazaar, Pandora’s textiles store and Teca Tu: A Pawsworthy Pet Emporium.

All have given new life to the north-side mall, which recently installed new lounge furniture in the corridor leading from the entrance by Starbucks and the Santa Fe Bar & Grill toward op. cit. books, right past the soon-to-open On Your Feet.

Houle, whose grandmother for many years owned the now-departed Nina’s Shop downtown at the corner of Lincoln Avenue and Marcy Street, opened On Your Feet in 1989 in the commercial strip next to Kaune’s Neighborhood Market at Paseo del Peralta and Old Santa Fe Trail. Two years later, she moved her business to Sanbusco, which she vacated in 2017.
