Iris (Candice Patton) gets a lot faster — try to guess the reason — in the new episode “Run, Iris, Run,” as a DNA-exchanging enemy known as Melting Pot (guest star Leonardo Nam) inadvertently transfers Barry’s (Grant Gustin) speed to the latter’s wife. She uses her newly acquired ability, with plenty of advice and worry from Barry, to try to protect the city from the nemesis.
7 p.m. on HIST Forged in Fire
For the first time in this show’s history, five smithing newbies get a crack at becoming part of this show’s global success, but although they don’t know it coming in, one of their number will be sent packing even before the first forge is lit in this new “Rookies Edition.” The four still standing after that are challenged to forge a blade with steel from a mystery box of their choosing. The final challenge: to create the War Golok, a 16th-century weapon.
8 p.m. on NBC This Is Us
Probably confirmed by the number of tissues used by viewers while watching it, no fan of this drama can say it hasn’t delivered in its second season, which concludes here. Some of the show’s biggest questions already have been answered, but expect a good number of loose threads to be left for Season 3, which NBC already has ordered. Mandy Moore, Milo Ventimiglia, Emmy winner Sterling K. Brown, Chrissy Metz and Justin Hartley star.

Executive producer Shonda Rhimes revisits the legal profession — in a different way than How to Get Away
With Murder — in this new drama, created by former litigator Paul William Davies. Public defenders (played by Britt Robertson, Jasmin Savoy Brown and Wesam Keesh) and prosecutors (Ben Rappaport, Rege-Jean Page, Susannah Flood) collide over federal cases in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York. Hope Davis, Vondie CurtisHall and Anna Deavere Smith also star in the series “Pilot.”
9 p.m. on NBC Rise
Comparisons to Glee are inevitable, but it should be noted that this grittier drama is based on a true story. Josh Radnor, pictured (How I Met Your Mother) has the central role as a teacher who becomes the supervisor of his school’s theater department in the series’ premiere, portending big changes for the facility — and also for many people in the surrounding community. The show also features Auli’i Cravalho, Rosie Perez and Marley Shelton in its “Pilot.”
