From The Santa Fe New Mexican:

April 1, 1918: Tomorrow night, the people of Santa Fe are invited to the meeting of the Santa Fe Woman’s club in the St. Francis auditorium, when Mr. Fraser, an American Red Cross ambulance driver, will give his experiences at the French front, during the early period of the war.

April 1, 1968: Santa Fe was being cordoned off by police at noon today as officers sought three men who broke out of the city jail this morning.

Police said Benjamin Jerman, 39, charged with armed robbery and carrying a deadly weapons, Mike Owens, 23, charged with possession of narcotics, and Steve Gardner, 19, charged with transportation of a stolen motor vehicle across state lines, were missing from their jail cells.

… The escapees apparently went through a jail skylight.

April 1, 1993: Outside magazine moved closer to having a home in Santa Fe when the City Council decided Wednesday to help it acquire land in the rail yard owned by Catellus Development Corp.

City Councilor Debbie Jaramillo was the only council member to oppose a resolution introduced by Mayor Sam Pick that threatens to condemn a piece of property intended for sale to Outside.

The resolution makes it feasible for Catellus to sell the lot, next to Sanbusco Market Center, to the Chicago-based magazine, said Earl Potter, an attorney for Catellus.
