From The Santa Fe New Mexican: April 25, 1918: Secretary of the Treasury William McAdoo, last night expressed the regret that he was unable to come to Santa Fe on this trip but declared he would visit the city later on in the year.

April 25, 1968: Santa Fe schools are taking immediate action against vandalism. The system is facing cancellation of its vandalism insurance after more than $3,000 [in] damage was inflicted on E.J. Martinez School late Monday or early Tuesday.

School Business Manager Philip Bebo estimated Wednesday that, unless vandalism to school property was stopped and stopped quickly, damages caused by vandals would total more than $25,000 by the end of the school year.

April 25, 1993: Faced with budget constraints, officials at Los Alamos National Laboratory reluctantly are exploring the prospect of shipping waste contaminated with radioactive and chemical substances to a privately-owned disposal facility in Utah. Lab officials still would prefer to go ahead with a plan disclosed earlier this year to build at $22 million disposal facility for mixed waste on lab property.

But that plan as been threatened by the likelihood that less money than expected will be available from the Department of Energy for future environmental restoration work.

The lab recently learned that is likely to receive $16 million less than expected in fiscal 1994 for such work.
