SCHOOL BOARD HOLDS STUDY SESSION
The Santa Fe school board will hold a study session at 5 p.m Tuesday at the Educational Services Center, 610 Alta Vista St., to discuss a review of facility conditions, boundaries and enrollment options for Chaparral, E.J. Martinez and Nava elementary schools, and the Turquoise Trail Charter Elementary School building, which is owned by the district. BE NICE TO YOUR TEACHERS THIS WEEK
May 7-11 is Teacher Appreciation Week, which means students and parents should be extra nice to those hardworking educators who try to make a difference in their lives. Tuesday also is National Teacher Day. Since the mid-1980s, the National Parent Teacher Association has designated one week a year to honor those educators. RUN FOR FUN AND FUNDS
Amy Biehl Community School will have its third annual Trailblazer run on Saturday, May 12. The adults’ 5K race will begin at 9 a.m., and the kids will run their 1K race at 10:25 a.m. Registration is $25 for adults and $15 for kids, which includes a free T-shirt. Tutus will be available for sale, and participants can buy tickets for a raffle. Proceeds from this fundraiser go to the Amy Biehl Parent-Teacher Coalition. PUBLIC SCHOOLS OFFER SUMMER PROGRAMS FOR KIDS
Santa Fe Public Schools will offer an array of summer programs for students, including the K-3 Plus summer school, the Scrub Club medical program at Capital High School and a music and arts summer camp. COLLEGE COMMENCEMENTS COMING UP
Graduation season is approaching, and both the Santa Fe University of Art and Design and Santa Fe Community College have commencement ceremonies this week. The Santa Fe University of Art and Design ceremony is at 4 p.m. Friday at the Santa Fe Community Convention Center, while community college graduation takes place at 10 a.m. Saturday at the William C. Witter Fitness Education Center, 6401 Richards Ave.
Many high schools will begin holding their graduation ceremonies the following week. Check individual school websites for a schedule of graduation activities.
COMMUNITY COLLEGE HOSTS AN OPEN HOUSE
The Santa Fe Community College will hold a continuing education open house from 4-6 p.m. May 23, in Room 131 of the administrative building, 6401 Richards Ave. This will provide potential students with a sense of the types of non-credit continuing education classes the college offers.
