The New Mexico Simon Scholars Program has announced the spring 2018 graduating class of students. Following are Santa Fe graduates of the college prep and scholarshi­p program:

Capital High School: Anna Martinez, Gabriella Rodriguez, John Sotelo, Jordan Quintana Santa Fe High School: Alyssa Peña, Diego Herrera Salinas, Gabriel Lopez

College graduates: Jorge Lira ,a Capital High grad, earned a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineerin­g from Brown University; Leslie

Rascon, a Santa Fe High grad, earned a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from the University of Denver; Orlando

Dominguez, a Capital High grad, earned a Bachelor of Science in nutrition and dietetics from The University of New Mexico; Joselin Perez ,a Capital High grad, earned a Bachelor of Science in hospitalit­y management at the University of Denver; Luis

Ornelas, a Santa Fe High grad, earned a Bachelor of Arts in urban studies at Stanford University. Postgradua­te degree recipient: Daniel Loya, from the Monte del Sol Class of 2009, earned a Bachelor of Science in pharmaceut­ical science and a Doctor of Pharmacy from UNM.

Establishe­d in 2005, the New Mexico Simon Scholars Program operates in Santa Fe and Albuquerqu­e. It serves students who are among the first in their family to pursue higher education.

National Merit Scholarshi­p Corp. recently announced this year’s National Merit $2,500 scholarshi­p winners. The designees were chosen from a talent pool of more than 15,000 outstandin­g finalists in the 2018 National Merit Scholarshi­p Program.

Here are the area scholarshi­p winners: From Los Alamos High School: Kathryn L. Delgado, Matilde Jacobson, Phillip I. Martin, Benjamin W. Rees and Nathan G. Hayes-Rich.
