From the Santa Fe New Mexican: May 16, 1918: 54 Dog License Tags Sold; Have You Got Yours?
City Marshal Baca announced today that 54 license tags for dogs had been sold and that there are many more dogs still in need of the tags which grant them immunity from incarceration in the dog pound. Opponents of the purchase have tried to turn the election into a referendum on the trustworthiness of the City Council and Santa Fe city government in general.
