Since they’ve been rivals in a competitio­n — namely, Dancing With

the Stars — Vanessa and Nick Lachey likely are more comfortabl­e presiding over one. The spouses serve as hosts of this event at the Hirsch Memorial Coliseum in Shreveport-Bossier, La., and Vanessa brings personal experience to the job: She was Miss Teen USA 1998. Carson Kressley and Lu Sierra offer analysis and commentary as last year’s winner, Kara McCullough, pictured, prepares to crown her successor.

7 p.m. on ABC Dancing With the Stars

The fact that this “Athletes” season of the competitio­n has been so much shorter than the norm is likely to be a factor as the winning couple is announced in this finale. Less time to have to rehearse and perform has translated into less time for possible accidents, but this group of entrants is used to playing hard from their respective sports pursuits.

7 p.m. on AMC The Terror

Season 1 of this bleak psychologi­cal melodrama draws to a close as summer likewise fades for the show’s characters, who are forced to consider taking epic risks and making painful sacrifices in the finale “We Are Gone.” As things build to a fateful climax, the crew of the expedition once again confronts the Inuit mythology that has been stalking and harrowing them from the very beginning.

Who Do You Think You Are? This Emmy-winning series marks its 10th anniversar­y with a new season of six episodes spotlighti­ng celebritie­s as they delve into their family roots. In the season premiere, actor Jon Cryer’s journey takes him to Scotland as he explores the dramatic tale of an ancestor who endured horrific conditions as a prisoner of war after a catastroph­ic battle, and was forced to come to America as an indentured servant. Another episode with actress-activist Laverne Cox immediatel­y follows.

9 p.m. on NBC Running Wild With Bear Grylls

Lena Headey has experience­d plenty of rough stuff in her role on the hugely popular series Game of

Thrones, but “grueling” goes to a new level for her as she joins Grylls on his brand of outdoor adventure in this new episode. When not immediatel­y focused on getting past the physical challenges posed to them on Spain’s Iberian Peninsula, she talks with him about the longevity of her career — and the particular success she’s had as the character Cersei Lannister.
