Capital High seniors make their walk across the stage
Graduating class: 280 Valedictorian: Ariel J. Arrellin
From Arrellin’s valedictory address: “Our lives aren’t destinations but experiences we share with each other, and I’m glad I got to experience these four years with all of you. I’m not sure what the future holds, but I don’t think it matters as long as you can enjoy the present. Enjoy your parents, grandparents, friends and lovers; and dance, dance while the music is playing.”
Salutatorian: Gabriella Elizabeth Rodriguez
From Rodriguez’s salutatorian
address: “I will be the first in my family to attend college. This ability to look outside of the boundaries has taught me to live with my eyes wide open; to be grateful in all circumstances good and bad.”
From Principal Mariah Runyon:
“This year the seniors have experienced much change: a year of major construction, more heightened fears around school safety and a new principal. Even with all of these transitions, the Class of 2018 has remained positive, worked through their fears of the unknown, continued to work toward their future goals, and supported their new administrative team with smiles and encouragement, displaying their love for Capital High School. These traits will forever serve our 2018 graduates as they enter the next phase of their young lives. It is not just about their academic preparedness, which they have mastered, but it is also about being the wonderful human beings which they are.”
