TV TOP PICKS
9 a.m. on ABC 2018 Indianapolis 500
The 102nd running of the Indianapolis 500 commences at Indianapolis Motor Speedway ... in a place actually called Speedway, Indiana. Japan’s Takuma Sato raised the victory glass of milk last year, but this time, the conversation is focused on the ladies. Danica Patrick, who ran NASCAR’s Daytona 500, is competing in her last auto race and will drive the No. 13 car for Ed Carpenter Racing.
7 p.m. on NBC American Ninja Warrior
A “USA vs. the World” special edition pits competitors against each other for global bragging rights. Once again, they tackle an obstacle course that puts many of them to the tests they might think they had anticipated well — but there’s always room for surprise, not to mention for a strained muscle or two (or more). Matt Iseman and Akbar Gbajabiamila return as hosts, with Kristine Leahy back as co-host. The show’s regular summer season begins Wednesday.
7 p.m. on PBS National Memorial Day Concert
After missing last year’s event for a good and very personal reason — the birth of a grandchild — Gary Sinise again joins longtime friend Joe Mantegna, both pictured, to host the annual tribute to veterans, presented from the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol Building in Washington, D.C. Guest performers include recent Oscar winner Allison Janney, John Corbett, Charles Esten, Brian Tee, Graham Greene, singer Leona Lewis and Broadway’s Cynthia Erivo, Megan Hilty and Alfie Boe.
7 p.m. on CNN 1968
Tom Hanks is among the executive producers of this four-part, twonight docu-series (concluding Monday) which explores a turbulent year in American culture marked by dramatic shifts in U.S. politics, cultural icons and social movements. Tonight’s opening hour, “Winter,” finds the Vietnam War at a turning point while, in politics, incumbent President Lyndon Johnson faces challengers from his own party. “Spring,” which immediately follows, sees riots breaking out across the United States after Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. is assassinated.
8 p.m. on ABC Deception
The drama series ends its season with “Code Act/Transposition,” a two-hour presentation combining back-to-back episodes. The Mystery Woman has her own bag of tricks at her disposal as she continues to baffle Cameron (Jack CutmoreScott) and his colleagues, even managing to out-trick him just when he thinks he has her cornered. Ilfenesh Hadera, Amaury Nolasco, Justin Chon, Laila Robins and Vinnie Jones also star.
