Your word is “tsunami” — because that’s what’s expected in terms of participan­ts as this popular annual scholastic competitio­n. More than 500 contenders are expected in this year’s Bee, a huge increase over the previous record (293) that was set in 2009. The surge is due to a new rule this year that allows “wild card” entries to spellers who won a school-level bee but not a regional competitio­n.

In this special episode of the hit nonfiction series, host Don Wildman, pictured, takes a fresh look at the 1932 kidnapping of little Charles Augustus Lindbergh, the 20-month-old son of aviator Charles Lindbergh and Anne Morrow Lindbergh. More than two months later, the infant’s body was found near the Lindbergh family home in New Jersey. Wildman walks his audience through each step in the case and puts the official account of what happened to the test.
