Deborah DeVito passed away April 18, 2018, after a battle with cancer, in peace and with gratitude in the same way that she lived her life. Deborah, (Debbie) was originally from Walnut Creek, CA, coming to Santa Fe in those turbulent times of the 1970s. Debbie was part of a migration to Santa Fe of artists, musicians and people in the holistic arts that helped make ’The City Different,’ truly different. An avid photographer, massage therapist, naturopath, and amazing gardener (a recent graduate of the master gardeners program). Debbie worked and donated her time through many circles of the greater Santa Fe community. In the late 1970s, Debbie traveled to Nepal, capturing profound photographs of the people and culture, with that work impacting her ’photographic eye’ for the rest of her life. This passion for photography was carried on through most of her life. She loved taking pictures of flowers, landscapes and capturing people in their best moments. She was very proud to pass on this love of photography, traveling and nature onto her son. Deborah is survived by her loving son Aaron Bradley, Don DeVito ("Brother"), her sister Stacie Schroder of Walnut Creek, CA, and her brother, Ted Schroder of Walnut Creek, CA. Although her immediate blood family was somewhat small. The people she surrounded herself with became close family to her son and her, and were by her side until the end. A Memorial service will take place this Sunday June 3rd if you would like to attend please contact Deb’s Son Aaron for more information (abradism@gmail.com) For those of you that would like to recognize Deborah at this time, donations are welcome to be made in Deborah’s honor to the Upaya Zen Center https://www.upaya.org/giving/general-scholarship-fund/
