6 p.m. on Animal Plant Vet Gone Wild

Dr. Chris Brown (Bondi Vet), descended from a long line of veterinari­ans, may live in Australia, but he makes house calls to far-flung locations around the world in this new series, as his global network of animal activists request his help giving care to an incredibly diverse range of species. Upcoming episodes follow “Dr. Chris” as he performs surgery on endangered African rhinos, rescues dogs from the Southeast Asia meat trade and saves orphaned sloths in Costa Rica.

The 72nd Annual Tony Awards Two talents relatively newly minted as Broadway performers — Sara Bareilles, who both starred in and composed the score for Waitress, and Josh Groban (Tony-nominated last year for Natasha, Pierre & The

Great Comet of 1812) — host the yearly honors for the just-ended New York stage season. Originatin­g from Radio City Music Hall, the ceremony is slated to include special awards for Chita Rivera, Andrew Lloyd Webber and Bruce Springstee­n. Mean Girls and SpongeBob SquarePant­s: The Musical are the most-nominated shows.

7 p.m. on TNT Claws

As this comically surreal Southern soap opera returns for Season 2, Desna (Niecy Nash, pictured) and her girls try to keep hope alive while working under the new Russian regime. Elsewhere, Desna remains blissfully in the dark about her gangster-gynecologi­st boyfriend, Ruval (Karrueche (Jimmy Tran) Jean-Louis). drops a life-changing Virginia bombshell on Dean (Harold Perrineau), while Polly (Carrie Preston) is thrilled to be put in charge of running an all-male dance troupe. Judy Reyes also stars in “Shook.”

8 p.m. on AMC Into the Badlands

Sunny (Daniel Wu) teams up with the River King (Lance Nichols) to find a way to arrange passage to Pilgrim’s (Babou Ceesay) Fortress in the new episode “Dragonfly’s Last Dance.” Meanwhile, The Widow (Emily Beecham) has her hands full as she faces full-on mutiny from her disgruntle­d troops.

9 p.m. on ABC To Tell the Truth

Who is really the person they claim to be? That’s the perpetual question as this update of one of television’s earliest game-show hits opens its third season, with Anthony Anderson continuing as host ... and getting support from his mother from the sidelines. In each episode, a different panel of celebritie­s tries to determine which of three individual­s actually is the person whose story is told. Those doing the guessing in this hour are Oscar winner Octavia Spencer, Dermot Mulroney, Nikki Glaser and Olympic-medalist gymnast Gabby Douglas.
