Donor gives $1.33M to Presbyterian Santa Fe
Scottie Pierce of Santa Fe has donated $1.33 million to the Presbyterian Healthcare Foundation to support the Presbyterian Santa Fe Medical Center, now under construction and expected to open in October, the health care provider announced.
Pierce’s gift will fund the Bringing Joy to Caregivers Fund, which will support staff initiatives, Presbyterian Healthcare Services announced last week.
The rooftop garden at the new medical center will be named the Terrace of Blessings and Joy in recognition of Pierce’s gift, according to Presbyterian.
The staff initiatives have yet to be determined, said Kerri Dufault, spokeswoman for Presbyterian Healthcare Services. A donation of this size from an individual is unique, she said.
“Talking to Scottie, her donation is really about ensuring access and availability [of health care] for Santa Fe and Northern New Mexico residents,” Dufault said. “She really views it as her way of paying it forward to the community.”
Pierce, a member of the foundation board since 2017 and also a member of the medical center advisory council, was not available for comment.
Her previous gifts include the creation of the Richard H. and Scottie Pierce Family endowment and a nonendowed matching contribution to support staff initiatives in Presbyterian’s Behavioral Health Program.
The holder of a doctorate in administration finance, Pierce’s background includes a long list of experience in work in medical, legal and educational services, from drafting legislation to policy analysis and growth development, according to Presbyterian.
An Albuquerque native, Pierce lived 33 years in Maine and moved to Santa Fe in 2013.
