Adargelia “Kitty” Celerina, June 24 Paul A. Gallegos, 65, Pecos, June 26

The Lord took Adargelia (Kitty) Celerina Hughes to be with him on June 24, 2018. A dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she will be missed by her family, but we are joyful that she has finally joined her husband in eternal bliss. She lived a long and productive life as an alumnus of Warren Wilson College and the University of New Mexico. She was a lifelong member of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority. She was a faithful member of St. John’s United Methodist Church in Santa Fe, and a longtime member of the Satna Fe chapter of the Oder of the Eastern Star. She had many friends whom she loved dearly.

Kitty loved to make things with her hands. She did many needlepoint projects over the years. In the later years she loved to make things with plastic canvas and yarn, including hundreds of "boxes" that she gave to friends and family. She frequently donated her projects and time to the church "bazar", an annual fund raiser. She was generous to a fault, helping everyone she came in contact with.

Kitty was proceeded in death by both her parents Joaquin Velez and Amelia Dorta de Velez, brother Miguel (Maria), sister Gersia, sister Aydee, brother Jorge, brother Joaquin, and one grandson (Jefferey).

She is survived by her two loving sons, John (Jan) and Mark (Julia), grandchildren Jonathon Hughes, Jennifer (Austin) Tango, Jessica Hughes, David (Jaxz) Hughes, Mathew (Alezandra), DeAna, great grandchildren Rilee, Zackary, Henry, Alicia Jo.

She passed away sleeping in her home, exactly as she wanted to. We will miss her and look forward to meeting again.

In lieu of flowers the family requests you make a donation in Kitty’s name to the USO.
