In this new live three-hour special, professional motorsports icon Travis Pastrana, pictured, honors the memory of the late daredevil Evel Knievel by attempting three of his most dangerous stunts in Las Vegas, Nev. Riding a modern-day recreation inspired by the motorcycle Knievel used, Pastrana attempts to break the master’s record jump over the length of 52 cars and another jump over 16 full-size buses. He also tries to successfully jump the Caesar’s Palace fountain, a stunt that nearly killed Knievel when he failed 50 years ago.

6 p.m. on LIFE Movie: Murdered at 17

To look at her, Brooke Emerson (Christine Prosperi) seems to be a popular girl leading a charmed life, but privately, she suffers from a condition known as Intermittent Explosive Disorder as the result of a brain injury, causing her sometimes to over-react to minor situations. Unfortunately, that makes her easy prey for Jake Campali (Blake Burt), who initially seems to be a kindred spirit yet actually wants to control and manipulate Brooke.

Jesse (Dominic Cooper) puts in an incredible amount of work to repay his debt to Gran’ma (Betty Buckley) as soon as possible in the new episode “Gonna Hurt.” Elsewhere, Tulip and Cassidy (Ruth Negga, Joseph Gilgyn) put their safety at dire risk as they put their heads together and hatch their own scheme to get the hell out of Dodge — sorry, Angelville — as quickly as they can.

10 p.m. on HBO Sharp Objects

Gillian Flynn (Gone Girl) and Marti Noxon co-adapted Flynn’s bestselling novel of the same title for this eight-episode limited series helmed by French-Canadian JeanMarc Vallee, who won two Emmys for directing and producing the earlier HBO blockbuster Big Little Lies. Amy Adams plays journalist Camille Preaker, who’s dispatched to her small Missouri hometown to cover the murder of one adolescent girl and the abduction of another.

11 p.m. on E! Very Cavallari

TV personality and fashion designer Kristin Cavallari makes Nashville, Tenn., the headquarters for her swiftly growing fashion and lifestyle brand, Uncommon James, as this new unscripted series launches its freshman season. For husband Jay, her move into a new professional work space can’t happen quickly enough, since their home has been overtaken by office matters, not to mention her employees — or minions, as Jay calls them — who feel free to traipse in and out of the house at all hours.
