From the Santa Fe New Mexican: July 17, 1918: Work on Santa Fe’s new high school building is fast nearing completion although it is doubtful if it will be completed in time for opening of the fall term of school. The interior work is now being rushed and a large part of it is already finished. This work is being carried out along the Santa Fe style of architecture and all the wood work will be finished in a dark natural wood. …

One of the best features of the new building is the auditorium on the east side of the building.

July 17, 1968: Irate townspeople Tuesday night charged Santa Fe School Board President George A. Graham Jr. with neglecting to set a date for meeting between the board and citizens on the firing of Supt. C.C. Capshaw in the hope the issue will be forgotten.

“I’m asking you to grant our request for a meeting,” Dick Gregory, co-chairman of an ad hoc citizens committee to investigate the May 27 firing, told Graham. “We’ve asked for your reasons. The only ones we’ve heard are the ones you put in in the newspaper. That’s not enough. When are we going to have a meeting?”

July 17, 1993: Santa Fe Mayor Sam Pick has asked police and City Hall officials for a plan to regain the trust of community members in the wake of the fatal police shooting of a man. Pick, who met with Police Chief Bobby Lucero and newly appointed City Manager David Sena for three hours Friday morning, said he asked officials to devise recommendations before the City Council meets Wednesday.
