In this new Shark Week special, Aussie footballer Aaron Rogers, U.S. alpine skier Lindsey Vonn and Rob Gronkowski of the New England Patriots team up with some of the best shark scientists in the world to glean updated information on the top predators of the ocean. Shark populations have taken a hit around the globe, but by using satellite technology these experts are trying to help them. Similar technology helps these researchers identify where sharks feed, mate and give birth to their pups.

Grace and Alonzo (Jennifer Finnigan, Ashley Thomas) become the best of enemies by forming a tenuous alliance in the new episode “White House Down.” Borrowed from a movie from several years ago, that title also indicates the trouble that President Mackenzie’s (Tovah Feldshuh) administration continues to face from Bennett (Sasha Roiz) and his followers.

In the new episode “Pearls, Pajamas, and Lies,” Catherine and Lyle remain on shaky relationship footing after their conversation at Brandon’s anniversary party. Hagood’s parents make a quick, unexpected trip to Savannah, where their arrival is received more as an interrogation than a social visit. Feeling overworked and underappreciated, Daniel makes a major career decision.

Narrated by Jon Hamm, the new documentary Ted Williams: The Greatest Hitter Who Ever Lived recalls the Boston Red Sox player, pictured, who is so legendary, a highway tunnel in that city is named for him. One of his successors on the team, David “Big Papi” Ortiz, is an executive producer of the profile that recalls Williams’ quality on the baseball field, as well as his experiences in two wars. Bob Costas, Dick Enberg (in comments made before his passing) and fellow sports icons Willie McCovey and Wade Boggs reflect on Williams’ accomplishments.

The team may lose a member — though he might want to wait, since this show has been renewed for next season — in the new episode “Meet Your Maker,” as Bell (Jon Michael Hill) is tempted by a job offer that would force him to resign from the New York Police Department. A missing young woman who’s leading dual lives gives Holmes and Watson (Jonny Lee Miller, Lucy Liu) their latest case. Aidan Quinn and Desmond Harrington also star.
