Santa Fe High Class of ’68 plans upcoming 50th reunion
The Santa Fe High School Class of 1968 is reaching out to its 668 graduates about their upcoming 50th reunion.
A 12-member committee has been meeting since February to plan the event, according to a news release.
In the past, the class has held a 10th-, 20th- and 25thyear reunion.
This year’s event is a twonight affair in September, with a meet-and-greet from 6-9 p.m. Sept. 21 at the Courtyard by Marriott. A dinner and dance will begin at 6 p.m. Sept. 22. Music will be provided by Reflections, a rock band from the 1960s.
Two educators from the era, a special guest speaker and honorary guest, will be attending the event to recount those years.
The class of ’68 continues to grow a legacy it established during its 20th reunion — an endowment at the Santa Fe Community College. The fund was set up to help high school graduates pay for books and tuition at the college.
Vioma Trujillo, chairwoman of the endowment, and Ramona Lopez, treasurer, have learned from a college official that the funding so far has aided 21 students in their college endeavors.
The class’ September reunion has limited seating. Classmates who have not been contacted about the event and would like to attend should call Barbara Forte at 505-982-5195 to receive information by mail or email, the news release says. The deadline to submit a registration for attendance is Aug. 31.
