While fooling around in the kitchen, Duff Goldman and Valerie Bertinelli impulsively decide to create an ice cream sandwich that incorporates a doughnut, which gives them a flash of inspiration for a new episode called “Ice Screamers.” They present a challenge to the young bakers that tasks the youngsters with turning unconventional components like waffles, brownies and cupcakes into next-level ice cream sandwiches.
8 p.m. on FOOD Reality Cupcakes
It’s Fleet Week, and Ashley Foxen knows that returning sailors are hungry for tastes that they associate with home, so she makes hot wing and mac-and-cheese cupcakes that leave her seafaring customers unsure whether they’re enjoying an appetizer or a dessert in the new episode “Cupcake Comfort Food.” Later, in Times Square, Arizona Cardinals running back David Johnson takes pleasure in a cupcake that captures the quintessential flavor of a New York pizza slice. Another new episode immediately follows.
8 p.m. on TLC Little Life on the Prairie
Lauren and Nate Webnar, as well as their 4-year-old daughter, Juniper, all were born with a condition known as achondroplasia dwarfism, but that hasn’t stunted their dreams in this new unscripted series. The six episodes in Season 1 follow the Webnars as they abandon big-city life in California in favor of a rustic farm existence in Arizona.
10 p.m. on MTV 2018 MTV Video Music Awards
With 10 nods to her credit, relative newcomer Cardi B, pictured, dominates tonight’s field of nominees — which also include such veterans as Bruno Mars, Ariana Grande and Ed Sheeran — in this year’s edition of the glittering awards show, originating for the 12th time from Radio City Music Hall in New York City. The awards — which are astronautshaped trophies — reflect online voting by fans in 12 categories, including video of the year and artist of the year.
