Things to know before you go

The entrance to Fort Marcy park for the Kiwanis Club of Santa Fe’s 94th annual burning of Zozobra will open at 4 p.m. Friday, and entertainm­ent is scheduled to kick off at 4:30.

General admission costs $10, and children 10 and under get in for free. The entrance is on Bishops Lodge Road off Paseo de Peralta. Those without a ticket purchased in advance should stay in the left line and look for the ticket window informatio­n.

Premium tickets, with prices beginning at $60 and including various benefits, are sold only online at www.burnzozobr­a.com.

Food vendors will be on hand, but patrons can bring their own picnic meals. Expect all food containers to be searched. No alcohol is allowed.

Patrons can bring backpacks, but they will be subject to search as well. Only service dogs will be permitted. For those who wish to view the event from home, a Santa Fe Community College television crew will produce a live presentati­on on local cable Channel 16 starting early in the evening.

TRANSPORTA­TION

Parking options will be limited near Fort Marcy Ballpark for Friday’s burning of Zozobra. Organizers encourage patrons to consider one of the following three options:

Park at the South Capitol Rail Runner station lot on St. Francis Drive and Cordova Road and take a free shuttle to the venue. Patrons with disabiliti­es and seniors should take the specially marked accessible shuttle, but organizers request one companion only for those passengers.

Park at the N.M. 599 Rail Runner station and take a $4 train ride to the South Capitol parking lot, where you can connect with the free shuttle. The last train from South Capitol to N.M. 599 will be held after the event until all ticketed passengers are aboard.

Take a Santa Fe Trails bus; the buses will run on the regular schedule and will drop passengers at the downtown Sheridan Avenue stop; get an Uber or Lyft for a ride home.

ROAD CLOSURES

The city of Santa Fe will close several roadways near the downtown area in preparatio­n for the annual burning of Zozobra.

Murales Road will close at 6 a.m. from east of the fire station to the tennis courts. At 4 p.m., it will close from Bishops Lodge Road to the tennis courts, and it will close completely, from Bishops Lodge Road to Old Taos Highway, at 5 p.m.

Artist Road/Hyde Park Road will close at 5 p.m. Friday from Bishops Lodge to Gonzales roads. Through traffic will be able to pass on Gonzales. Old Taos Highway will close at 5 p.m. Rosario Boulevard will close at 5 p.m. from Old Taos Highway to Rosario Hill Road, just east of Griffin Street.

Paseo de Peralta will close at 5 p.m. from North Guadalupe Street, east of the DeVargas Center, to Marcy Street.
