Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfathe­r, Uncle, and Friend. Husband of Marie, Father of Ann Cole (Stephen), Mary, Barbara Gorham (Berto), James (Florianne Aresta), Peter (Tina Alarid), Grandfathe­r of Stephanie and Allison Cole, Anthony and Olivia Gorham, Marco and Eric White, Evan and Vivian White. Santa Fe High Class of 1947, Veteran of the U.S. Air Force, Graduate of UNM School of Engineerin­g. As an engineer Jim designed many highways, bridges, and waterways. He worked with multiple agencies to remediate the Terrero mine and improve the Pecos fishery, just down the road from his beloved family cabin. He was twice president of the Board of Registrati­on of the New Mexico Society of Profession­al Engineers. He volunteere­d for St. Vincent de Paul and Boy Scout Troop #57. An avid hunter and fisherman, Jim loved the great outdoors. He met Marie Vasaturo, his wife of 61 years, when she came to New Mexico from Massachuse­tts to teach at Cristo Rey School. Among his greatest joys in life were the many adventures he shared with his family. He taught all five children how to ski, and took them all on many backpackin­g trips in the Pecos. He adored all of his grandchild­ren and loved introducin­g them to his haunts and hobbies. He will always be remembered for his sense of humor, humility, generosity, kindness, and love of life. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Cristo Rey Church Monday, September 10th at 11:00 AM, reception to follow at the IHM Retreat Center, 50 Mount Carmel Rd.
