TV TOP PICKS
7 p.m. on CBS MacGyver
In the new episode “Bravo Lead + Loyalty + Friendship,” Jack (George Eads) is understandably alarmed when he receives an emergency distress call from an old Delta buddy who has been falsely accused of terrorism in a foreign country. That news sends Jack and Mac (Lucas Till) on a mission to reassemble the rest of the old Delta team to stage a thoroughly unsanctioned rescue of their comrade in arms.
7:30 p.m. on FOX The Cool Kids
Confronted with her 65th birthday, Margaret (Vicki Lawrence) is definitely in no mood to celebrate in the new episode “Margaret Turns 65.” Her friends Hank, Sid and Charlie (David Alan Grier, Leslie Jordan, Martin Mull) are having none of that, however, and they insist on showing her a properly festive time — which means attempting a “young person’s night” at a local club.
7:30 p.m. on ABC Speechless
The DiMeo family is still facing the very real prospect of losing their home as Season 3 of this sitcom premieres, forcing Maya (Minnie Driver) to take a measure of last recourse: traveling to England to confront her estranged and very high-maintenance father, Martin (guest star John Cleese), in hopes he’ll come through with a loan.
8 p.m. on TRAV Haunted Live
This week’s live investigation finds the Tennessee Wraith Chasers — Steven “Doogie” McDougal, Chris Smith, Mike Goncalves, Brannon Smith and Scott Porter — traveling to help a young family that, however improbably, finds itself caught in the crossfire of an especially bloody Civil War battle. The team wants to explore the possibility that this historic home is the site of a paranormal vortex from which they may be able to draw out spirits.
9 p.m. on PBS Great Performances
The National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences pays tribute to this year’s Lifetime Achievement Awards honorees in “Grammy Salute to Music Legends 2018,” the third such special produced under the
Great Performances aegis. This year’s all-star concert salutes Neil Diamond, pictured, Tina Turner, the rock group Queen, Emmylou Harris, Hal Blaine, Louis Jordan and The Meters.
