Dorothy Tegnazian was born with a twin sister Claire and shared her childhood with sisters Alice and Louise in the Armenian community of New York City. Better known as Doro to family and friends, she worked for TimeLife Magazine and in her 30’s began a lifetime of adventurous travel with an independent trip to India.

In New York she studied at the Watercolor Society of NYC and became a dedicated watercolorist. Doro’s artwork was displayed in galleries in New York and San Francisco, as well as her seascapes which were displayed at Tiffany’s on Fifth Avenue amid sand and jewels.

Doro had a wonderful effervescent spirit and made friends almost instantaneously. In mid-life Doro left New York for San Francisco, where she met her husband, painter Charles Wilmarth. This loving union brought her much joy.

Living in Santa Fe for more than 20 years, she had many interests and activities which she pursued with dedication and vigor. She was passionate about playing the piano. Her most recent favorite places to be were teaching watercolor painting to children at the Children’s Museum, playing with her Tuesday evening backgammon group, and studying in the Christian Science Reading Room. Doro was a Christian Scientist for most of her adult life and she was inspired, supported, and beloved by her Christian Science community which she gave so much to.

Doro was survived by nieces Laurie Kazanjian, Barbara McGoldrick, nephew John Kazanjian, cousin Suzanne Ekizian, and dear friend Noro Yeghyaian. The family would like to express their gratitude for the loving care given by her friend Pam Mathews.

A memorial service for remembering and celebrating Doro will be held on Saturday, October 27, 2018 at 4 pm in the Community Room at 144 Villa Alegre in Santa Fe. The arrangements are under the care of Rivera Family Funeral Home.
