I-25 rollover near Wagon Mound kills van driver

A rollover crash on Interstate 25 north of Wagon Mound around 8 a.m. Wednesday killed the driver and sent another person to the hospital with injuries that were not lifethreatening,

New Mexico State Police said in a news release.

Cruz Gomez, 70, of Mexico was driving south on the highway in a Chevy van when he lost control and rolled the vehicle. Police don’t know why he lost control, the news release says, but passengers riding in the van

were wearing their seat belts, and police do not believe alcohol was a factor.

Gomez died of his injuries at Alta Vista Regional Hospital in Las Vegas, N.M., according to the release.
