Single mom ‘living day to day’ needs help

-

Asingle mother of two boys says her home needs to be winterized and needs plumbing work in the bathroom.

She says she can feel breezes come through the house because doors need weatherstrips and windows need to be fixed.

After her car broke down, she quit taking classes toward earning a business degree.

She and her sons are “just living day to day,” she says, and she worries that without some help from the Empty Stocking Fund, she will have nothing for her children at Christmas.

The Empty Stocking Fund is a project of the Santa Fe New Mexican. The Santa Fe Community Foundation, Los Alamos National Bank, the Salvation Army, Presbyterian Medical Services, the Life Link, Habitat for Humanity and the Housing Trust donate services to jointly administer the Empty Stocking Fund.

The newspaper publishes stories featuring requests for assistance from local residents.

The information from the initial application will be verified if the applicant is selected for assistance.
