It looks like Christmas for many of the same actors

-

Q: I’ve been seeing a lot of the same actors and actresses in a lot of Christmas movies since those began running again this year. Why is that? – Susan Ashley, Port Orange, Fla.

A: Of course, a lot of the movies being shown by such outlets as Hallmark Channel, Lifetime and UPtv are repeats from past years, so that accounts in part for it. However, certain performers have long-standing relationships with certain networks, as Candace Cameron Bure and Lacey Chabert do with Hallmark – and their movies also have proved to be very popular in repeat showings, so they’re often called upon to return and star in new holiday tales. Sometimes, the talents will switch between networks for Christmas, as Hilarie Burton and Sarah Lancaster are doing this season ... but Bethany Joy Lenz is back on Lifetime in a yuletide movie after having done one there last year. The situations can be different then, but it all adds up for many familiar faces as holiday seasons accrue.

Q: Will “The Great Christmas Light Fight” be back this year? If so, when? – Barb Alspaugh, via e-mail

A: It returned for its sixth ABC season just after Thanksgiving, and it will continue on Mondays through Dec. 17. Carter Oosterhouse and Taniya Nayak are back as the judges who cross America to survey some of the most lavish outdoor displays the season – and people who likely will get some mighty electric bills soon – have to offer. So far in this round, the show has made its way to Mississippi, Virginia, Florida, Texas, New York, Connecticut, Nebraska and Washington State. If the program hasn’t made its way to your region yet, have faith, since the odds would appear to be in your favor.
